These Deadly Battlefields In West Virginia Changed The Country Forever
To me, history is one of the most fascinating subjects. It’s just always growing and expanding. West Virginia has such an incredible history! We are so lucky to live in such an amazing state packed full of such historical events. These nine battles are only a few of the battles that have occurred in our state.

There was an estimated 250 casualties in this battle.

Fort Henry is actually the site of two battles during the American Revolutionary War, once in 1777 and once more in 1782.

This battle had an estimated 80 casualties and took place on October 3, 1861.

The original stage coach stop was hit by 28 cannon balls during the Battle of the Greenbrier River.

Thomas Stonewall Jackson led a portion of Robert E. Lee's army at the Battle of Harpers Ferry, where they surrounded and captured the Union camp.

This was the site of the first land battle between the North and South. There was an estimated 30 total casualties.

This bridge is the oldest and longest covered bridge in West Virginia, and is one of the two remaining covered bridges in Barbour County.

This battle was fought mostly between Virginia militia and Shawnee and Mingo Indians.

There has an estimated 346 total casualties at the end of this Union Victory.
