Water parks are always a source of summer fun. With epic slides and splash pools, there is a lot of fun to be had. When you need to take a break from playing but don’t want to get out of the water, a lazy river is the way to go. And this one at Waterways Waterpark is awesome.
Water Ways Waterpark, located 26 miles from Charleston in nearby Julian, is a great destination to cool off this summer. It has several cool water slides, and an awesome lazy river.
After you have gone swimming and experienced the slides, its time to enjoy a part of the park that allows you to relax without getting out of the water. That's where the lazy river comes in.
The primary entrance to the river is this slide that begins atop a hill overlooking the park. This launch-off point, sitting solitary on the hill, will send you on a winding path down to the river.
Once you are securely sitting in your inner tube, which the park provides, the water jets on the slide will propel you forward down the hill. Gravity takes care of the rest as you descend, twisting and turning as you go.
Ultimately, the slide dumps you into the lazy river, which loops around the entire park.
Lazily you float by the park's various areas, making a loop of the entire area.
Instead of just sitting on a towel, with a single view, you can sit on a floating tube with an ever changing view. You will pass the Olympic-sized pool, 5 different slides, Kiddie Island and the gift shop.
Although the river is a sure way to relax, while remaining moderately active, there are a few other things to enjoy at Waterways.
You can step away from the water area and play a little miniature golf, have a picnic at the park's designated picnic areas, and walk off your lunch at the park's paved hiking trails.
So, be sure to pay a visit to Waterways for some fun in the sun on a lazy river or some awesome water slides. Either way, you won't go home disappointed.
Water Ways Waterpark is located at 109 Water Way in Julian.
