It takes a village. That’s true for raising children, but it’s also true for other things… like art! In the case of the Washington Street Artists Cooperative, local artists have been coming together since 2004 to encourage, support, challenge, and learn from each other as they share the process (and results) of creating masterpieces of beauty and creativity. And they welcome you to come to see the results at their gallery in Charles Town, West Virginia.
The Washington Street Artist Co-op show-cases beautiful art from a diverse group of skilled local artisans, like photographer Mary Jo Bennett.
Because the artists who participate in the cooperative have such a wide variety of passions and interests, you never know what you might find at the gallery. Blown glass? A definite possibility.
Shop for yourself or for that hard to buy for person on your Christmas list, or just spend some time here appreciating the many beautiful items on display. And if you're an artist yourself, you can even join the cooperative and reap the many benefits of a supportive, creative community of like-minded friends.
So stop in soon to see what kind of treasures you might find on display at the Washington Street Artists Co-op. Life is better when you're surrounded by good art!
The gallery of the Washington Street Artists Co-op is not located on Washington Street, as you might expect, but on 108 North George Street in Charles Town. They are currently open on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can learn more on their Facebook page or website.
Can’t make it to Charles Town anytime soon? Tamarack is another good source of local art!
