Tucked away on the outskirts of Milton, West Virginia (between Charleston and Huntington) are two amazing Mountain State attractions side-by-side: Blenko Glass Company and the historic Mud River Covered Bridge in Pumpkin Park. Both of these are unique outings suitable for all ages – and together, they provide the perfect complement for a day spent exploring a few of the amazing and historic attractions West Virginia has to offer.
To make the most of this family-friendly double outing in wild, wonderful West Virginia, start at the Blenko Glass Company's visitor center.
Blenko Glass Visitor Center, 9 Bill Blenko Dr #5, Milton, WV 25541, USA
From here, take a factory tour (you'll want to reserve your spot ahead of time) good for all ages, where you'll watch professional glass makers at work and learn more about the quality and beauty of the glass products Blenko creates.
The bridge originally spanned the Mud River in Milton, but it was relocated here to the pond in Pumpkin Park adjacent to the Cabell County Fairgrounds in 2001.
The bridge makes Pumpkin Park an interesting, informative, family-friendly stop year round, but, as its name suggests, the park especially shines in pumpkin season (October). That's when the fairgrounds transform into a pumpkin fairy tale land for the annual West Virginia Pumpkin Festival.
