You would think that, in a state virtually covered in woods, treehouse cabins would be a more common thing. But there are actually very few treehouse accommodations in West Virginia – and the Cabins at Pine Haven are doing it right.
Located in Beaver, the Cabins at Pine Haven take a different approach to the traditional cabin in the woods. More appropriately, they feature cabins in the trees. Sure, a treehouse is something that many of us had as kids, but we always wanted something more like these houses, didn't we?
Pine Haven is a campground ideally located by many attractions, including skiing, white water rafting, ATV riding, and golfing destinations.
The cabins themselves are supported by beams rather than the branches of the trees, so you can enjoy your stay in a treehouse with the concerns of less-than-ideal stability out of your mind.
Long flights of steps will lead you up to the cabin decks. Well built and sturdy, the exterior of the treehouses are stained in deep brown and tan hues, in many ways mirroring the surrounding environment.
Each cabin has a large covered wooden deck if you want to enjoy the day or simply spend time outside barbecuing, as each cabin comes with an outdoor grill. Each one also has an open back deck for nature watching.
Inside, the natural wood theme continues. Each treehouse has an efficiency kitchen, DirecTV, private bathroom with a tub and shower, heat and A/C, and a common area with a fire pit.
Each treehouse also has a hot tub, which great for relaxing on both warm and cold nights, especially if you have spent the day skiing at the Winterplace Ski Resort, playing golf, or hiking along the New River Gorge, all of which are a 15 minute drive from Pine Haven.
But there is also fun to be had on site, including disc golf, flight golf, sand volleyball, and snookball. If you are not familiar with snookball, pictured below, it is a combination of pool and soccer. So, it is essentially pool you play with your feet, with soccer balls painted to look like giant billiard balls.
The Cabins at Pine Haven are located at 242 Log Cabin Road in Beaver, just south of Beckley.
