We love all of the hidden treasures in the Mountain State, especially eclectic roadside places that belong on everyone’s must-visit list. When it comes to restaurants, pubs, and bars, that list grows longer with each day and the following bar and grill is one of those iconic places no one should pass up.
The Tractor Bar and grill is a one-of-a-kind that made a GQ Magazine list of the 12 wackiest and weirdest bars in America. Perhaps the bright red tractor sitting in the middle of the joint had a lot to do with this.
Or the bar stools that are fashioned out of old tractor seats. While tractor seat stools aren't exactly a new thing in barn-style decor, how they got to the Tractor Bar is unique.
It turns out, the Tractor Bar - way back in the early 90s - was an actual tractor dealership. After hard times fell upon the business, the owner decided to turn it into a bar. But money was tight so the bar and decor were pieced together from things laying around the tractor dealership. And that beautiful red tractor in the middle of the room? It was just sitting out back in the weeds until it was pulled out, cleaned up and painted.
What a backstory! Some may consider the Tractor Bar JUST a bar, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. There's a full kitchen at this establishment and a menu that includes grilled chicken, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, nachos, salads, and our favorite: The Tractor Burger smothered in cheese, grilled onions, grilled peppers, and bacon.
