The West Virginia State Park system is already one of the best in the business, and its natural treasures are celebrated far and wide. Now, as if you needed another reason to take advantage of our park system, here it is. Four of our most acclaimed state parks are offering “glamping” opportunities new for the summer of 2021.
What is glamping? Short for glamorous camping, it’s a way to fully experience the tranquility of nature and still enjoy (some) modern comforts.
Each of these new campsites requires a short hike to reach. Once you arrive, you are welcomed by a fully-prepared, luxurious tent housing a queen bed with memory foam mattress, a firepit and grill, a propane heater, a camp toilet, and a sun shower that enables you to enjoy sun-warmed hot water without the need for electricity.
An extra pop-up tent is provided at most sites to allow your friends to join you - just be clear on who gets the queen bed! There are also two double sites with two luxury tents a piece, one at Hawk's Nest and one at Blackwater Falls.
Here are the parks with their campsites:
Cacapon Resort State Park, tucked under the rugged Cacapon Mountain in Morgan County, is renowned for its breathtaking views of the Potomac River, as well as its hiking, biking, and resort activities.
Enjoy all of these features of the park and sleep out on the mountain ridge at one of the park’s unique campsites.
Hawk’s Nest State Park in Fayette County commands an unforgettable view of the New River Gorge.
Additionally, the park offers miles of hiking, and some of the best water recreation to be found between whitewater rafting, canoeing, and jet boat rides. The fishing is also exceptional. Many of the glamping sites here offer great views of the river and Hawks Nest Lake Dam.
Nestled in a rugged and remote corner of Hardy County, Lost River State Park offers woodland peace and quiet, historical sites, miles of hiking trails, diverse wildlife, and tremendous panoramic views from atop Cranny Crow overlook.
There are also many other recreational options at the nearby campground. The park’s woodland glamping sites are spread throughout the park and offer easy access to scenic views and recreational facilities.
Blackwater Falls State Park, a nationally acclaimed park and among the state’s most photographed locations, lies high among the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County.
Miles of hiking trails and scenic overlooks allow you to absorb the beauty of the falls and the deep woodland gorge. The campsites here are situated along the river, offering beautiful views and excellent fishing opportunities.
Get away from civilization, but not comfort, with these perfectly situated campsites at some of our state’s most beautiful natural treasures! To learn more or book a campsite, visit Tentrr . For more luxury camping in West Virginia, try yurt camping at Tomlinson Run State Park.
