The Speleothems In West Virginia's Seneca Caverns Look Like Something From Another Planet

In Germany Valley in Pendleton County, West Virginia, more than 100 limestone caves have been identified, making it the most prolific caving area in all of the United States. One of the caves in this labyrinth is Seneca Caverns, and the formations inside are most definitely otherworldly.
Seneca Caverns, located in Riverton, West Virginia, is a massive underground labyrinth full of speleothems of all shapes and sizes.
Speleothem is the term for any formations inside a cave that are made from mineral deposits, including stalactites and stalagmites.
These formations look like something from another planet.
Seriously, did we miss a turn and wind up on Mars?
They are breathtakingly unique, rivaling any above-ground mountain view in beauty.
Seneca Caverns has the largest flowstone formation in West Virginia. Other formations in the caverns include draperies, cave bacon, and ribbon stalactites.
Tour rates are $10 to $15 per person, with children 4 and under free.
Discounts are available for groups, AAA members, seniors, and military.
In addition to touring the cave, you can also eat a meal at their onsite restaurant and mine for gemstones.
Seneca Caverns is open seasonally, April to October.
