There’s nothing we like more than enjoying a meal at some of the more unique spots in West Virginia. And, yep, there are a lot of them! Whether you like special river views or unexpected food, there are plenty of ways to remember just how great it is to be hungry in West Virginia! Of these, our favorite just might be this little hot dog stand. Well-known by now, it’s worth a visit if you love a good dog and enjoy cool, casual atmospheres.
If you've ever been in the Lesage area there's a good chance you know about the most unique hot dog experience you can possibly have.
Welcome to Hillbilly Hot Dogs in Lesage, which might look like a whole lot of weird from the outside. And we can assure you that it definitely is a whole lot of weird!
It'll take you some time to get inside since you'll need to take in the decorations adorning the walls of just about everything. You'll find remnants of household goods, license plates and a whole lot of other things that seemingly have no relationship to hot dogs or even West Virginia. But somehow we can't imagine the place without them.
There are more than 28 hot dogs on this menu including things like the Spankin' Bacon Hillbilly Harlot, which is a bacon-wrapped, deep-fried weenie with a Jambalaya-style sauce. And it's topped off with chopped bacon. Order any of these, but if you're really hungry you'll want to consider the Widowmaker.
Finishing this monster in less than 12 minutes means walking away with the glory of success. And this cool t-shirt. And should you break the current speed record, you'll get it for free.
This is one of the most unique and special places in West Virginia and people here are pretty lucky to call it local!
Hillbilly Hot Dogs is open Monday and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. You can learn more about them through their website or check them out on Facebook. You can reach them on 304-762-2458.
