Good news! After canceling due to the pandemic in 2020, one of West Virginia’s most popular festivals has figured out how to safely host their event in 2021!. That means the Feast of the Ramson is on for this spring… for the 82nd time.
Something special is coming to Richwood, West Virginia this spring: the 82nd Feast Of The Ramson. On Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Richwood Moose Lodge from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (or until the food runs out), the city of Richwood is throwing a party. A big party. A fun party. A really pungent party.
The food this year will be available as take-out or with limited indoor and outdoor seating options. In addition to ramps, the dinner will include potatoes, brown beans, cornbread, ham and bacon, desserts, and drinks, including Gub's Sassafras Tea.
Tickets for the dinner can be pre-purchased (contact the Richwood Chamber of Commerce by phone or e-mail to do so) or purchased at the door.
Of course, not everyone appreciates the strong, odorous flavor of ramps, but don't worry! There are other food options available as well if you just want to come out and enjoy the day without sampling the festival's infamous namesake.
Are you planning to head over to Richwood for the Feast of the Ramson this spring? Have you ever gone to any of the other 81 of these feasts that have been held over the last century? To learn more and find the contact information you need to participate in this delicious event, visit the Richwood Chamber Of Commerce’s event page here or the Feast Of The Ramson Facebook event page here.
If you love ramps but can’t make it to the Feast of the Ramson, or if one dinner isn’t enough to satisfy your appetite for these seasonal treats, see if you can swing by the Oakford Diner in Richwood on a day when they’re serving up a ramp dinner special!
