Blackwater Falls State Park in West Virginia is famous. Famous for waterfalls, that is – Blackwater Falls and Elakala Falls being prime examples. But another, less-talked-about feature of this famous state park is the overlooks. And if you like to work a little bit for your view so that you appreciate it all the more, then you’ll want to explore the Pase Point Trail in West Virginia at the Harold S. Walters Nature Center in Blackwater Falls State Park.
The Pase Point Trail, which can be hiked at any time of year, is a moderately trafficked trail in Blackwater Falls State Park that begins at the Harold S. Walters Nature Center.
Along the way, enjoy strolling through a lush forest dotted with rhododendron tunnels and beside a beautiful mountain lake. The lake, and the view from Pase Point, changes with each passing season.
To locate this trail, head southwest from the nature center around the south end of Pendleton Lake. Cross Pendleton Creek on a charming footbridge and then plunge into the lush forest. Follow the red blazes to stay on the Pase Point Trail!
The overlook, a rock outcropping, is approximately 1.2 miles into the hike.
