I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
West Virginia is home to some eclectic museums like the John Brown Wax Museum and the Castle Halloween Museum, but a museum based on folklore is just, in a word, strange. One of the strangest tourist traps throughout the Mountain State is one based solely on the legend of the Mothman, a bizarre red-eyed humanoid creature with wings. To learn more about this creature you’ll just have to read on and then make plans to visit the Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant.
What do you make of the legend of the Mothman? Have you visited the Mothman Museum? What’s your favorite tourist trap in West Virginia? Please let us know in the comments. For more information on location, hours, and admission, and to plan your visit to the Mothman Museum, visit the website and Facebook page.
