The name Thundering Herd came from a Zane Grey novel that came out in 1925. Marshall was originally known as the "Indians," with their colors being black and blue. Green and white came along in 1903.
7) The Joan C. Edwards Astroturf football stadium has a capacity of 38,227 people.
10) The Thundering Football team was headed home after a game against the East Carolina University Pirates in North Carolina and the plane crashed and killed all 75 people that were on board.
