If you’re starved for a carefree break from the pressures in your real world, then head to Shepherdstown, West Virginia. We won’t go so far as to say “anything goes” in this artsy neck of the woods, but you won’t find any other place with a free spirit quite like you’ll encounter in this tiny town in Jefferson County.
If we were headed there for the day today, then we'd get an early start and make our first stop of the day at the Lost Dog Coffee Shop.
But don't think our use of the word "cafe" means you'll get a hot breakfast out of the deal. Nope... you'll get something better! Not many cups of coffee come with a fork, do they? What you're looking at here is called the Banana Gorilla Mocha. It's piping hot and topped with whipped cream, bananas, tiny marshmallows and syrup.
If, by chance, the deliciousness on top of your cup of joe doesn't fill you up, then never fear. There are plenty of hand-held treats awaiting over by the register.
Lost Dog Coffee is located in the artsy yellow building at 134 E German St., Shepherdstown, WV 25443. It’s open seven days a week: Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Learn more from the official website and go here for the Facebook page.
