At Only In Your State, we’ve recently added a feature that allows you to nominate your favorite places around West Virginia for us to feature, and one of the first to come in was the Historic Black Knight in Beckley. Why do our readers love it so much? “You can swim in the summer, play golf, and have a wonderful lunch. They offer the best hot dogs on a grilled English bun I have ever had, not to mention their Boagy Hoagie and homemade chips.” Sounds great to us!
In 1929, the prestigious Black Knight Country Club opened in Beckley, West Virginia. Over 90 years later, it's still going strong, with one big change: it's now open to all.
The City of Beckley purchased the Black Knight Country Club in 2018 and converted it from an exclusive opportunity for a select few to a reasonably priced pay-and-play experience open to all: the Historic Black Knight Municipal Park.
At the Black Knight, you can enjoy dining in the onsite restaurant, golfing on the 9-hole course, and swimming in the outdoor pool.
It's a great place for kids to get out some energy even during the hottest days of summer!
So head on out to the Black Knight (you can check their hours and options on their facebook page) for a day of summer fun topped off with some of the best hot dogs you’ll ever eat!
