There are times when you’re hungry and just about anything will do. That’s when you head for tried-and-true pizza or something from the fridge. But then there are times when you need something truly comforting. That’s when you look to perfectly prepared home-cooked meals in cozy environments. And the best is when someone else is preparing it. We love this German restaurant because it offers all the comforts of home, without having to cook. Plus, there might not be another place with food this good without having to use your passport.
For one of the most authentic German meals you can find in West Virginia, head to the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown. It's a beautiful resort, but it's also home to a very special restaurant.
Nestled within a European-style resort, the restaurant at the Bavarian Inn offers an opportunity to enjoy a meal that you'd otherwise need to grab your passport for! The dining room is beautiful, immediately making you feel special. Look at those table settings!
But, of course, while we like the ambiance it's the food we're here for! And it's incredible. What helps it stand out is the sheer authenticity of each dish. This Jagerschnitzel with fall veggies and red cabbage will make you feel as though you've stepped into a German home.
And, to make things more festive, be sure to stop into the on-site brewery. Bavarian Brothers Brewing offers a brew pub and lounge with six different beers. This is a great place to unwind.
And for the ultimate relaxation plan on spending a few nights! This resort is beautiful and the special accents throughout will make you feel like you've traveled miles...while still in your very own West Virginia backyard.
The Bavarian Inn Dining Room is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can learn more about it and check out the menu by visiting their website. Or, check them out on Facebook. You can reach them on 304-876-2551.
