It was successfully rebuilt largely thanks to the area's lumber industry boom in the early 1900s. Sutton was the setting for an award-winning science fiction story in the 1980s: "Why I Left Harry's All-Night Hamburgers." It's one of the featured towns in the videogame Fallout 76.
