Love hiking but you’re not always in search of a monumental climb? Sometimes it’s nice to take a nice and easy trail to just get outside and reconnect with nature. This short and sweet trail in West Virginia’s Coopers Rock State Forest is a sure bet for viewing the splendor of fall each year, plus a couple of added bonuses. Take a look.
The Rock City Trail at Coopers Rock near Morgantown is 1.4 miles (.07 mile each way) and is, for the most part, relatively level.
The hike leads through some very interesting formations and includes some minimal caves. It's well-traveled for much of the year and is a favorite among rock climbers so don't be surprised if you see some brave hikers trying to climb one of the massive rocks.

There are a few areas where you many have to practice some delicate footwork over and around some rocks on the ground, but just be diligent in these areas and you should be fine... also follow the red trail blazes and you won't get lost.
Coopers Rock State Forest is a fantastic place to spend an hour, a morning, or an entire day. There are multiple trails and overlooks along with picnic tables, facilities, and most of all, gorgeous views!
