The American Public University System is the umbrella for two college institutions, the American Public University and the American Military University.

As a result, it includes one of the most diverse student bodies in the entire nation, including a variety of ethnicities, ages, and life stages. It's the most diverse college in West Virginia, and in the top 100 most diverse colleges in America.
Students at the American Public University System will discover that, among their almost 90,000 fellow students, 89% are working adults. Eighty-five percent are associated with the military in some way. The average age of the student body at the American National University System is 32.
Half of the students identify as White/Caucasian (50%), and the other half identify as Hispanic (16.4%), Black (15.4%), Asian (3%), Native Hawaiian (1%), American Indian (.5%), or other (12.5%).
