It was a project completed in 1990 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The property was purchased to construct a flood control dam and has since improved.

The park and lake are named after Confederate General Stonewall Jackson, who played a key role in the successful engagement of many battles during the Civil War.
The marina is open all summer long, where you can rent boats to navigate the 2,600-acre lake, rent boat slips, buy gasoline, and order food or drinks to go.
