West Virginians are filled with great pride for our state, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t occasionally have some odd experiences. See if any of these things have happened to you.
In West Virginia, you’ve probably at least once…
1. Hit the brakes in time to miss the deer just chilling in the road.
Or maybe you didn't hit the brakes in time.
2. Had a jarring encounter with an unexpected pothole.
Our lower cost of living is contrasted by the amount we spend in car repairs.
3. Gotten caught in game day traffic...
Of course, we can hardly blame anyone for wanting to see the Mountaineers.
4. ...or parade traffic...
West Virginia loves to celebrate anything and everything.
5....or if you're in a more rural area, caught behind a tractor.
It's basically your own little parade.
6. You've been surprised by a quick change in weather.
7. Found yourself on the wrong side of the "slaw line."
An argument for the ages... should hot dogs come with or without coleslaw?
8. Bought beer at a pharmacy.
Does this make it a health food? You don't realize until you go to another state that this is considered strange.
9. Eaten at the Road Kill Festival.
Of course, a true West Virginian understands it's not actually road kill.
10. Heard a spooky ghost story.
Or maybe you've seen a ghost in an abandoned place. West Virginia is so full of history that it's not surprising that we have some ghostly legends.
11. You've had to explain that you don't live in Virginia.
It seems most people have forgotten their geography lessons.
12. Met another West Virginian while on vacation elsewhere.
We're so full of pride for our state that we can't help but find each other.
What weird experiences have you had in West Virginia? We’d love to hear about them.
