West Virginia has a number of things we were first to accomplish. (See a list of 12 here.) And now we’re practically the only place in America where you can experience the old Showbiz Pizza that rose to fame in the 1980s as a family entertainment center. The pizza chain featured an animatronic faux band of raucous creatures on stage performing on queue every 30 minutes, plus video games, coin-operated rides, and more.
All but one of those arcade restaurants is gone in the Mountain State. The only one remaining is in Barboursville and if you grew up in the 80s (or raised your kids in the 80s) you'll love this step back in time!
Just like the old Showbiz Pizza, Billy Bob's Wonderland (named for one of the old Showbiz Pizza characters) is still a fun place for families. And the stage still comes alive several times throughout the day.
The many tables at the foot of the stage are often filled with families taking a break from all the fun for a little lunch or dinner. Pizza is still a mainstay, but the menu now also includes salads, sandwiches, and appetizers like nachos and more.
There's an entire wall of pinball machines, and you can spend hours playing skeeball only to find you still want to play some more. Other game features include laser tag and a mini-golf course.
Billy Bob’s Wonderland is located at 5 Cracker Barrel Dr., Barboursville, WV 25504, a mere 15 miles east of Huntington and 40 miles west of Charleston. It’s open every day but Monday. The hours are: Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday – Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday – Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Learn more on the official website here.
