There are so many great cities in West Virginia and choosing the best of the best was not an easy task. We all take great pride in the place we call home. One city stands out above the rest for several reasons, and is not only a great city in West Virginia, but possibly the best city in America. Morgantown is not located in the center of our state, but it is the heart of it. Morgantown is packed full of art, music, dining, lodging, business and Mountaineer pride.
In the 2013 issue of Kiplinger’s, Morgantown was ranked seventh in its “10 Great Places To Live” list. It made the list for its job and income growth, healthcare, cultural and outdoor activities and proximity to major cities.
So what makes Morgantown great? It offers it all: an abundance of art and music, dining, history, education, and sports, and it is packed full of pride in our Mountaineers and our state. Let’s look at the top 12 reasons Morgantown is the best city in America.
Morgantown offers great shopping choices with two malls and tons of businesses down town. All of the businesses make finding employment much easier than in other cities.
Farmers keep Morgantown's farmers markets packed full of fresh fruits and vegetables. You can also easily purchase eggs from farmers with free range chickens and meat from farmers who do not use antibiotics or steroids. It always makes you feel more confident about what you are feeding your family when you know where your food comes from.
Morgantown has several venues for concerts. Whether it's a concert at Heinz Field or a performer showcasing their talent at the popular Schmitt's Salloon, there is always a concert to catch in Morgantown.
