Baked goods are only good as long as they are fresh. Nobody really wants a day-old pastry, or something that comes out of a box. Well, you won’t get either of those things at this restaurant in Morgantown. In fact, this place might even give Grandma a run for her money.
Apple Annie's Bakery and Restaurant is a favorite in Morgantown. It pairs small-town charm with fresh baked goods and country style meals.
The decor of the restaurant speaks a lot to the type of food you get at Annie's, but their menu might not be quite what you expect. Sure, there may be a lot of country style platters to choose from, such as country fried beef steak or fried chicken...
And while it is true that one of their most popular dishes is chicken and biscuits, you will also find some other classic foods that are not associated with the region, such as the three-cheese panini, the reuben, or the smokehouse chicken wrap.
Annie's also has a full breakfast menu with omelettes, French toast, steak and eggs, waffles, and a breakfast burrito.
But the best part of Apple Annie's is the bakery. All the baked goods are made from scratch - nothing frozen. As the name implies, there are several apple-based items both on the bakery and restaurant menus. The bakery serves six different fruit pies, including apple, cherry, and strawberry rhubarb, and five cream pies.
They also serve cookies, briolles (a stuffed French pastry), cakes, muffins, and scones.
But that's not all. You can also get pepperoni rolls, cannolis, cinnamon rolls, and donuts. But one thing you have to try is the apple dumplings, even if it is all you get.
So if it is fresh, if it is homemade, then it is Apple Annie's. Don't tell Grandma.
Apple Annie's is located at 6120 Mid Atlantic Dr. in Morgantown. Their hours are Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. They are closed Sundays.
