Alderson, West Virginia is no exception: this small river town has several quaint area shops that are well worth your time to visit, but none quite so much as the one that’s known as the oldest in West Virginia!
Tucked away in the small town of Alderson, West Virginia along the Greenbrier River in Greenbrier and Monroe Counties is what might just be the oldest store in West Virginia: Alderson's Store.
And as soon as you step through the front door, you'll realize what a treasure-trove this place is. Not only does it have a rich, historic presence in the community (it was founded by the founder of the town), but it also is absolutely packed with some of the most interesting, unique STUFF you'll find anywhere in the state.
They are currently open on weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but watch their Facebook page for expanded hours during certain seasons. You can find Alderson's Store located at 203 South Monroe Street in Alderson.
So let this be your excuse to plan a weekend trip to Alderson, West Virginia for some long-awaited, well-deserved shopping therapy. Who needs a mall when you can visit this old-fashioned department store that has it all…and then some?!
