Hello! I was born and raised in Toronto, lived in Miami for a decade, attended the Miami International University of Art & Design, and have resided in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, for the past 15+ years. I enjoy traveling all over the United States, Canada, and Europe - though I have a great appreciation and love for the southeastern parts of the US in particular. My past expertise lay in hospitality in the restaurant and retail world. Aside from writing, I now run an Airbnb in my home and sling vintage, so I'd like to think this all helps me with what it takes to find the best restaurants, lodging, and fun things to do and see in your state. I am an avid reader, love exploring the arts, and discovering the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Nice to meet you!
Whether it’s previously vibrant cities falling behind the times with dying industries or natural disasters plummeting buildings in their path, West Virginia has no shortage of ghost towns and abandoned buildings. One of the creepiest places is on this abandoned property in Exchange, West Virginia, which most people don’t even know exists.
Once a bustling railroad town over a hundred years ago, Exchange was originally a stopping point on the former Coal and Coke Railway.
Currently, it is considered an unincorporated community and ghost town. The outskirts of Exchange are still populated, but the main street through town is blocked off, and the buildings appear to be vacated.
Now, only the sound of whispering ghosts as it stands deserted and faded. The once busy railway which ran through the area is now gone, leaving behind an abandoned railway town with its ghostly old stores, station house, and dwellings.

There is no history about this property, but it sits desolate along a railroad and a two-way road. If these walls could talk, what would they say?
Judging from the overgrown shrubbery enveloping the structures and decrepit roofs, these have been sitting here for a while. Letting Mother Nature take its toll.
Be met with a haunting scene as you peer through the windows. There are rooms filled to the brim with vintage mid-century toys, like creepy antique doll heads.
There's no shortage of fascinating things to see. Peek through and catch sight of old chairs stacked up and mannequins tossed about the room. What type of life did these dwellers lead? We may never know.
Remember to consider; though buildings and land may seem deserted and neglected, they may still have owners, and property may be private. We don't advise walking far from the main roads or parking. Would you even want to? Spooky.
