The American diner was particularly popular in the 1950s, so it makes sense that many of them maintain a 50s theme. Here in West Virginia, DJ’s Diner in Fairfield is one place you can go for some nostalgic vibes.
DJ's 50's & 60's Diner, located in Fairmont, features an art deco visage complete with neon lights and block glass walls framing the entrance.
Inside, the vintage design continues with vinyl booths, a checkered floor and circular barstools lining a long counter. Even the wait staff wears uniforms typical of the period.
The walls are decorated with memorabilia from the period the restaurant emulates, accompanied by a vintage jukebox flanked with stand-ups of Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe.
As is typical with most diners, breakfast is served all day, offering all the classics: eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, french toast, and coffee.
They also have a lunch and dinner menu, with many items named after famous celebrities or icons of the period. They serve several appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, and much more.
You can also enjoy several desserts and milkshakes, as well. They also offer take-out, catering, and delivery. But best of all is the atmosphere; it's one thing to enjoy a good meal, but it's quite another to feel like you have been transported through time as you enjoy it.
DJ's 50's & 60's Diner is located at 1181 Airport Road in Fairmont. Their phone number is (304) 366-8110.
