To reach it, just take Exit 54 off I-90 and head north. You'll follow a narrow paved road, FR 4832, until you turn left on Gold Creek Road.

In fact, in the 1970s and early 1980s, this was a gravel pit created and used for building I-90. It's hard to believe that this gorgeous place was once a gravel pit, but a lot of effort was made to convert it into the beautiful pond it is today.

Of course, if you want the trail to yourself, you should go on a week day and start early. There's really no such thing as the "off season" here.

You'll never guess you're mere minutes from I-90.
