Imagine boarding a 1940s train and cruising through the beautiful Nisqually Valley in the foothills of Mt. Rainier. Then imagine being greeted with all the wine you can sip and a catered meal at your destination. If we’ve just described your ideal day, you’ll love the Washington Wine Express — and there are several more wine trains this year.
The Washington Wine Express departs from the Elbe Depot.
Remaining dates for 2019 are August 31, September 14, and October 5.
The 3-hour journey begins with a departure at noon or 4:30 (depending on which excursion you choose), when you'll ride through some of Washington's finest scenery.
And while bringing your own alcohol along is prohibited, you're welcome to purchase wine to enjoy on the train.
Since wine tasting works up an appetite, you'll also be treated to a catered lunch (or dinner, depending on your excursion) before boarding the train again.
Each wine train excursion offers wine from different regional wineries and unique live entertainment, so you may need to go more than once. Get your tickets here, and while you’re at it, spend some time exploring the tiny town of Elbe.
