If you’ve ever been to Edmonds, which is about 25 miles north of Seattle, you know how delightful it is. It also happens to be a quick 25 minute ferry ride from Kingston, a charming little town that makes a fantastic weekend getaway for anyone looking to relax.

Kingston is located in Kitsap County on the shores of Appletree Cove and the Puget Sound.

It was founded on April 24, 1890 by C.C. Calkins and Samuel B. Brierly, who dreamed of making it a resort town for vacationers from Seattle.
And while there is no resort in town, Kingston is home to The Point Hotel and Casino, which happens to be a great destination for anyone who loves quirky cover bands.

From Zepparella (a female tribute band to Led Zeppelin) to Garth Guy (a tribute to Garth Brooks), you're sure to be entertained here.
If you're looking for something a bit more tranquil, head to Heronswood Garden.

The garden is open for self-guided tours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a fee of $10 ($5 for children). The plant collection here is diverse and rare, so it's definitely worth exploring.
North Kitsap Heritage Park is another great spot for a nature walk.
