Here in Washington, we love to get out and enjoy the bountiful beauty of the state we call home. Snowcapped mountains, glistening waterways, and lush forests call out to us just waiting to be explored. Washingtonians don’t let the changing seasons slow them down. Camping is a year-round activity in the Evergreen State and we’ve found the most magical campground of all.
On the shores of Puget Sound in Island County, you'll find Washington's most-visited state park.
Deception Pass State Park is nestled on nearly 4,000 acres between Fidalgo Island and Whidbey Island. Widely is believed to be one of the most beautiful state parks in the country, Deception Pass is abundant in natural beauty and outdoor activities.
Breathtaking views and lush scenery make up the landscape of the park.
The Deception Pass Bridge connects Whidbey Island and Fidalgo Island and offers stunning views over the waters of Puget Sound. There is a narrow pedestrian lane for those who want to get a closer look and aren't afraid of heights.
The park is open year-round for day use and camping. Winter camping can be enjoyed at the Quarry Pond camping area. Miles of walking and hiking trails wind through old-growth forests throughout the park, giving visitors the opportunity to climb to heights above the shore and enjoy sweeping, panoramic views.

Beachcombing is a popular activity at Deception Pass.
There's no shortage of waterfront activities. Whether you enjoy meandering down a sandy beach, discovering marine life in tidepools, or creating an epic sand sculpture, you'll have plenty to do. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the area's magnificent Orca whales.
There's nothing like waking up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee. This is no ordinary campfire coffee. Campstuff Coffee serves up your favorite espresso drinks out of their vintage trailer at the camp loop entrance across from Cranberry Lake from May through September.
Spend the day gliding across the sound in a kayak.
Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy glorious scenery from the seat of a kayak. View marine life and native birds and experience a new view as you sail under the Deception Pass Bridge. Kayak, paddleboard, and canoe rentals are available at Blue Otter Outfitters
Experience local music and entertainment at the Deception Pass Amphitheater.
Thousands of people come to West Beach to enjoy live music, interpretive talks, and community events. The newly renovated space offers lovely water views in a tranquil setting.
Pick up a bag to take on your hike or enjoy during a live show at the amphitheater. Sister Sister Kettle Corn serves fresh kettle corn, ice cream, and beverages in the West Beach parking lot on weekends from mid-May through September.
There's not a bad view in the park and the sunsets over Deception Pass are pure magic. It's no wonder people come from all over the country to visit the stunning beauty of the park.
