Looking for a beach in Washington that has it all? My pick is Waikiki Beach. This fabulous beach is wonderful for swimming, body surfing, beachcombing, sand castle building, and gorgeous scenery. Even better, it has a unique attribute that most beaches don’t — mini structures you can build or play in.

Locals call Waikiki Beach at Cape Disappointment State Park “Stick Beach” for good reason. The tide litters the gorgeous cove with huge sticks at the back of the sandy beach that intrepid beachgoers use to build mini structures.

Waikiki Beach is one of a few beaches at Cape Disappointment. Be sure to buy a daily or yearly parking pass before parking in the adjacent lot.

You'll find an impressive array of makeshift structures, such as teepee shapes, lean-tos, or cool mini houses.
There are usually huge piles of sticks you can use to build a tiny hut. Or better yet, build on one that's already on the beach.
