Washington State is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world. Grand, sweeping beaches, lush forests, and arid canyons make up the landscape of the Evergreen State. With such abundant beauty, it’s no wonder Washingtonians love spending a lazy day taking a scenic drive. Getting in the car and seeking the road less traveled is exciting. Nevertheless, there’s comfort in familiarity. The Swiftwater Corridor is one scenic drive in Washington that we’re sure you’ve experienced at least once. After all, it’s a commonly traveled section of I-90. But have you ever slowed down to really appreciate the beautiful scenery along the way? Join us as we traverse the route from Roslyn to Vantage. This 57-mile drive just may be the most underrated adventure in Washington.
Of course, a scenic drive can be just that, a drive. However, we recommend scheduling time to explore a bit along the way. Roslyn is a former coal mining town and home to the famous Brick Saloon, Washington's oldest, continuously operating bar. If you're in the mood for a little wine-tasting, Swiftwater Cellars is right down the road.
Further down I-90 sits Cle Elum, a picturesque small town in the heart of the Cascades.
Named for the Kittitas Indian word for Swift Water, Cle Elum is surrounded by natural beauty. You might want to check out the historic Cle Elum Bakery to pick up some sustenance for your journey.

No drive on the Swiftwater Corridor would be complete without a stop in Thorp.
Thorp Fruit & Antique Mall has been a must-stop for folks traveling to Central Washington for over 60 years. Stock up on fresh fruit, vegetables, and snacks at this historic farm stand.
Stop and enjoy the outdoor exhibits of petrified wood (Washington's official state gem) and spectacular views of the Columbia River. As with all state parks, a Discover Pass is required and can be purchased online or at the park.
Our official Swiftwater Corridor road trip ends at the Vantage Bridge, but we suggest continuing a little farther.
The views of the mighty Columbia are undeniably breathtaking. Majestic basalt bluffs and Ice Age sculpted canyons tower over the river in a gorgeous display of natural wonder.
Just over the Vantage Bridge sits a landmark you don't want to miss.
Wild Horses Monument has been delighting visitors for over 30 years. Fifteen life-size steeds gallop along the hillside in an enchanting display of art and beauty. Designed and created by Chewelah sculptor David Govedare, the horses can be seen up close and from afar in Quincy, Washington.
