Luckily, there are still plenty of affordable places to vacation here in the Evergreen State, and many of them are downright charming. Visit one of these sweet little cities on your next weekend getaway.
Did you know you can take a free 60 minute guided tour of our Capitol building any day of the week? And that's not the only free or cheap attraction our beautiful capital city has to offer -- their annual Music in the Park event on Wednesday summer evenings is always free, and you'll find plenty of budget-friendly hotels in the area as well. While you're there, walking along the waterfront and check out all the art sculptures.

Port Townsend is a tourist-friendly city, so you might think it's expensive to visit. But there are definitely some affordable places to stay in the area, and camping at Fort Worden State Park is as cheap as $10. Plus, window shopping and waterfront walks are always free.

Goldendale is a sleepy little town in Klickitat County, but don't let that stop you from going. The Maryhill Museum of Art alone is worth venturing that way, and you'll also be close to the breathtaking beauty of the Columbia River Gorge and several of Washington's best wineries. And since it's such a rural area, it's easy to find a place to stay for under $100 per night.

Local history buffs can't get enough of this charming old town, and it's a great place to explore when money is tight. You can check out the historic Roslyn Cemetery, see the local museum for a mere $2 donation, and enjoy cheap eats at the Roslyn Cafe or Brick Saloon.

From the historic Fairhaven District to the tranquil Whatcom Falls Park, you'll find plenty of budget-friendly attractions in Bellingham. And since this is a college town, you'll find plenty of happy hour food specials and affordable eateries in the area as well.
Most Washingtonians don't think of Prosser as a vacation destination, but don't knock it 'till you try it. Not only is it in the heart of wine country, but it hosts some pretty impressive events, like the The Great Prosser Balloon Rally in late September.
