No matter what part of Washington you call home, you’ve clearly already experienced some sky-high temperatures this summer. And on a hot day, nothing is more refreshing than enjoying the cool mist of a waterfall.
While Washington is home to more than 100 known waterfalls, many of them require a lengthy hike to reach, which does not sound appealing on a 90-degree day. Instead, check out one of these beautiful falls that are hiding in plain sight — little to no hiking required.
Franklin Falls does require a mile-long nature walk to reach, but it's well worth it. On any given summer day, you'll find handfuls of happy Washingtonians wading through the waters. But even if you decide not to get wet, just lounging by the falls is perfectly peaceful.

All you have to do to enjoy Snoqualmie Falls is find the roadside viewpoint next to Salish Lodge. However, there are also a couple of short trails that will take you to the lower falls, where cool, crisp temperatures await you.

Whether you're looking at it from the Monroe Street Bridge, the inside of a gondola, or one of the many viewpoints, Spokane Falls is always stunning. It's pretty fantastic to live in a city with a waterfall cascading right through town.
Marymere Falls can easily be reached off Highway 101, just south of Lake Crescent. The hike to reach it is only about 1.5 miles "round trip," and the surrounding area always stays nice and cool.

Panther Creek Falls is one of Skamania County's best hidden gems. Located near the town of Carson, all it takes is a short 0.3-mile trek to reach it.
