Washington is stunning in any season, but it really seems to come alive in spring. But you don’t have to go to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival (although you’re welcome to) to take in all the seasonal flora. We’ve got some beautiful public gardens that are perfect for a nice spring stroll.
Every December, Bellevue Botanical Garden hosts Garden d'Lights, a holiday-themed display with half a million lights. But it's also spectacular in the spring, when everything is beginning to bloom.
The rhododendron is our state flower, and it's on full display at this beautiful pet-friendly park. The gardens are open every day from 9 - 4, and admission is just $5.

Manito Park consists of five major garden areas, earning it major recognition for its diverse horticultural displays. These 78 acres are extremely well-maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department, and they're especially vibrant in May.

Since 1939, this peaceful property has been perched on a hill above Wenatchee. It's open from mid-April to mid-October, and you'll want to wear your walking shoes when you go -- it offers plenty of natural stone paths for strolling.
Point Defiance Park has more than an acre of rose gardens, one of which was established in 1895. You'll have to wait util late spring to see them in bloom, but it will be worth it.
Brush Prairie is located about 12 miles northeast of Vancouver, and there's not much to it -- but it does happen to have a gorgeous secret garden. The garden (which is actually a collection of three smaller gardens) spreads out over three acres, and it's full of hummingbirds and butterflies along with beautiful flowers.
The Seattle Japanese Garden is a separate, smaller part of the Washington Park Arboretum. This little oasis is open from March - November, and it gets more colorful by the day.
