Having grown up in Washington, Andrea is a self-admitted Pacific Northwest snob. In their opinion, there's simply nowhere else in the country with the Evergreen State's beauty. After attending university, Andrea devoted themselves to writing full-time. They're thrilled to represent Washington for Only In Your State while pursuing other professional and personal projects. They currently reside in Olympia, where they enjoy leaf-blowing their yard, perfecting homemade ramen, cuddling with their three tiny dogs, and feeding their pufferfish, Sea Biscuit.
From the moment there’s sunshine, Washingtonians crowd local parks, hiking trails, and waterways, making the most of the blue skies. All this outdoor revelry works up quite the appetite! If, at the end of an al fresco day of fun, you’re in the mood for the biggest pizza in Washington, Talarico’s Pizzeria, a beloved West Seattle spot, has got you and your hanger covered.
Talarico's gives the people what they want: big portions of comfort food. Located on bustling California Avenue, it's the perfect place to land after a day of outdoor fun, whether you've just finished your stroll on charming Alki Beach or you're returning to the city after an out-of-town excursion.
Its interior is boisterous and brimming with good neighborhood vibes. Since its 2006 debut, this beloved local spot has spent 18 years creating ties to the surrounding community. Meet the die-hard regulars at Talarico's karaoke nights or pop by for bingo and trivia!
But atmosphere alone doesn't cut it in a city with pizza as crave-worthy as Seattle's. The food must also be mighty good. The gargantuan NY-style slices at Talarico's are legendary. It's not uncommon to see diners post photos of themselves with their large portions using their arms as size references.
With 14-inch slices and 28-inch whole pizzas, I was nervous that the pie wouldn't have the right texture all the way through. I'm a snob about droopy pizza middles; it's the quickest way to take the meal from divine to simply average. I'm happy to report that my slice maintained its shape quite well! Talarico's pizza is intended for folding and eating East Coast style, which is exactly what I did.
If you want to go big at Talarico's, I recommend bringing the right people with you. Conquering a pizza of this size takes a village. It's worth commemorating your collective effort with before and after photos.
Is it even possible to squeeze in dessert? Perhaps with a bulletproof plan. If you've got a sweet tooth, the dessert at Talarico's hits the spot. The rum bread pudding is a personal favorite.
