Writer some days, editor other days, nerd all days. Love to travel to lesser-known spots and give them the love they deserve. Independently owned motor inns, Mom and Pop restaurants, uncrowded National Parks and trails.
In between these, spend my free time virtually adventuring through point-and-click games. Native New Yorker but can frequently be found roaming other parts of the United States.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Nothing is like spending the day perusing the wares of Pike Place Market in Seattle. From handmade crafts to baked goods to collectibles to jewelry to just about anything under the sun that you can think of, you’ll be hard-pressed to tear yourself away from this market, let alone see and experience it all in one day. But what if you don’t have to? What if you could stay right in the market? Well, you can. The Inn at Market Place is one of the most unique places to stay in Washington.
Since 1907, the Pike Place Market has been an important spot in the city of Seattle. It’s a playground for visitors who flock to this nine-acre area for eating, shopping, and exploring an assortment of small and independent businesses.
There are over 200 shops and restaurants, more than 150 different craftspeople and their creations, more than 50 farmers, and so much more. Just some of the categories you’ll find here include books, flowers, handbags, jellies, glassware, ceramics, etc. You name it, you can probably find someone (or a few someones) selling it.
But what about when the market closes at 5 p.m. and you aren't quite done exploring?
And it doesn’t stop here. Just some of the other amenities you can expect include enormously comfy bathrobes to lounge in and the opportunity to get an in-room massage.
Be sure to take in the view from the roof. Check out the view of the beautiful Puget Sound. Or the Olympic Mountains? The Seattle waterfront? See it all from here!
If you are looking for someone to enjoy your favorite Pacific Northwest treats from Pike Place Market (and put together your plan of attack for day two!), this is the spot. If you are anything like me, you might find it hard to tear yourself away from these views and go back to your room!
While there is much to eat within Pike Place Market, there are also three restaurants you should most definitely check out while at the Inn at Market Place.
Café Champagne serves French food, like cassoulet or quiche Lorraine. Bacco provides breakfast all day, like Dungeness crab eggs benedict or Belgium waffles. And Sushi Kashiba is a Japanese eatery where you can grab sauteed geoduck or tempura.
