The margarita is one of the most underrated adult beverages of all time. And if you enjoy a nice, cold marg every now and then, you’ll love Washington’s Margarita Marathon. Tacoma happens to have several fantastic options located within a few miles of each other. And while driving the route would save you time, for obvious reasons, we recommend either designating a driver or going for a nice, long, tequila-powered walk.
Cactus is a beloved King County chain, and the Tacoma location is their most recent addition to the lineup. Their cuisine combines Southwestern fare with traditional Mexican dishes, and it's delicious -- especially when you wash it all down with a Cactus Margarita. The specialty margs are also tasty, but their original house margarita is the best.

At El Borracho, it's not about whether you want a margarita, it's about which kind to order. Their list of specialty margs includes hibiscus, coconut, and more -- and the house margarita, which is made from fresh lemon and lime juice and agave nectar, is nice and refreshing.
The best time to be at Red Star Taco Bar is during their daily happy hour, which runs 4 - 6 p.m. During this time, margarita slushies are just $5, house margaritas are $7, and tacos as are cheap as $2. You'll probably need some tacos or nachos at this point anyway.
With nine Pacific Northwest locations, The Matador has become a beloved local hot spot for tasty Mexican food and refined cocktails. The Tacoma team treats tequila as more than a beverage -- it's an essential part of the menu. And the margaritas are out of this world.
It's the cilantro tacos that often draw people to Mexico Magico, but this place also serves a phenomenal margarita. Order as many as you dare, but don't leave without trying the queso dip.
We've just described a five-stop margarita trail that spans almost four miles. If completing that would require some recovery time for you, head to Hotel Murano, which is only a block away from Mexico Magico. You'll be enjoying tequila dreams (or leftover nachos) before you know it.
