As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
With all the seasonal stress in the air, we though we’d give a shout-out to one of Washington’s top places for a peaceful getaway. Skamania Lodge sits tucked away in the Columbia River Gorge, and if you’ve never been, you really don’t know what you’re missing. From relaxing spa treatments to outdoor recreation and fine dining, this place truly has it all.
Skamania Lodge is located in the tiny town of Stevenson near the roaring Columbia River, and it's a little piece of paradise.
The zip line trail is totally guided, and you'll coast through seven zip lines and a few sky bridges. The aerial park consists of 9 platforms and 22 elements of varying degrees of difficulty to test your abilities -- like an obstacle course in the air.
Hikers love the outdoor fitness trail -- and if you'd rather chill out, you can take a yoga class onsite on occasion.
The treehouses are so well-stocked with amenities, it wouldn't be accurate to call them rustic. But there is something perfectly peaceful about sleeping amongst the Douglas Firs.
Of course, if you get hungry, you won't even have to leave the property.
From the lavish meals (champagne brunch, anyone?) at The Cascade Dining Room to the Greenside Grill at the golf course, you'll find several great dining options here.
The Skamania Lodge is a fantastic destination for families, couples, or small groups of friends who need a break from reality. And if you can bear to leave the property for a while, check out this stunning state park.
