There are over 60 mountain ranges in Washington, and we might be biased, but we think they’re all magnificent. The Olympic Peninsula is particularly mountainous, and there’s no better way to take enjoy them than by taking in the views from an exhilarating hiking trail. For a nice, pleasant, family-friendly hike on the peninsula, just head straight to Hurricane Hill.

While the trail doesn't close except in the case of severe weather, it's most commonly used between May and October.

From the Visitors Center, you'll ontinue up the Hurricane Ridge Road for 18 miles to the Hurricane Ridge Visitors Center. The parking area will be about a mile and a half beyond that, and you'll see the mountain views almost instantly.

Then, you'll trek through golden grasses to the stunning Hurricane Hill summit.

We recommend hiking this trail multiple times, in more than one season, to experience the diversity.

If you look north, you'll see the city of Port Angeles and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. On a clear day, you might even see Vancouver Island from across the water.

If you're planning on exploring the peninsula this year, add Hurricane Hill to your must-see list.
