Explore Nature Trails And Wetlands At This Little-Known Washington Forest
Washington has such an abundance of forest hikes, mountain trails, and lakeside spots to enjoy. But when you want to spend some time in nature but you don’t have all day to get there, your options are a bit more limited. Luckily, you can find plenty of natural wonders near your own backyard. The Black River Riparian Forest and Wetland is located within Renton’s city limits, and some people aren’t even aware that it’s there.

It may not be in the middle of town, but this location is far from rural. It's easily accessible from I-405.

If you're a fan of bird-watching, you'll love this place. And if you're not, you might be by the time you leave.

The Waterworks Gardens Trail is a mile-long loop that takes you past all the top attractions.

None of the walking trails in the forest are overly difficult, and they're all beautiful.

The Lake to Sound Trail is a 16-mile path that will eventually link the Puget Sound with Lake Washington. It currently passes through the cities of Des Moines, SeaTac, Burien, Tukwila, and Renton.

The next time you need to spend some time in nature but you don't have much time to spare, look for an oasis like this in your own city.
