This Firehouse Brewery In Washington Will Take You Back In Time
We’ve got some extraordinary breweries here in Washington, and you don’t have to be a beer lover to enjoy them (although it doesn’t hurt). Tacoma’s first craft brewery, Engine House No. 9, is located in a century-old firehouse — and that’s not the only thing that makes it great. Not only is the beer selection fantastic, but the food is exceptional.

This was the last station in Tacoma to convert from horse-drawn to mechanized equipment, which happened in 1919.

Luckily, it was restored by its current owners, and it now has a place on the National Register of Historic Places.

A few decades (and owners) later, Tacoma’s first craft brewery was added to an adjoining building. While the original brewery has since expanded and moved downtown, you can still enjoy all the beer at Engine House No. 9, which serves as the taproom.

From pale ales and pilsners to hearty stouts, you'll be able to try a wide variety of brews.

They claim to serve the best burgers in Tacoma here, and they might actually be correct. You'll also find classic bar food, tacos, pasta, salads and sandwiches, and mac & cheese made from Beecher's Flagship Cheddar.

And with names like the Rowdy Burger and Spotted Pupperoni Pizza, you might be tempted to order a kids' meal for yourself.

Everything is made from scratch, right down to the housemade granola.

On Saturdays, they're open from 8 a.m. - 2 a.m., and Sunday hours are 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Address: 611 N Pine Street, Tacoma, WA, 98406
