Nestled along the U.S.-Canadian border in Whatcom County sits the tiny town of Blaine. Unassuming in size but rich in history, Blaine is one of the most unique places in Washington. Indeed, you may have driven right through the Peace Arch City on your way to visit our neighbors in Canada. However, this small “blink-and-you-might-miss-it” town is undoubtedly worth exploring.
Dedicated to peace and serenity, you can't miss the International Peace Arch towering over Peace Arch Park and straddling the U.S.-Canada border.
Lush green lawns and colorful flower gardens make up the landscape of Peace Arch Park, providing an idyllic setting for a tranquil walk or sunny-day picnic. Indeed, the park is actually made up of two parks in two separate countries.
Blaine has a population of just under 6000 people. Nevertheless, there is plenty to do in this waterfront town.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 17-passenger Plover Ferry bears the distinction as the oldest foot-passenger ferry in Washington. Observe spectacular views of area wildlife and Mt. Baker as the Plover cruises from the Blaine Harbor Marina to the Semiahmoo Wharf Resort. Children will be particularly excited for the opportunity to act as "Captain for the Day" while they help steer the vessel.
Tempt your taste buds with classic and seasonal flavors like chocolate explosion, cotton candy, and caramel apple crisp. Edaleen's Blaine location is open Monday through Saturday.
