If you’ve ever been to New Orleans, you know the food there is unlike anything you’ll find in the rest of the South, or even the rest of Louisiana. And while Washington does have some tasty Southern cuisine spots, it isn’t easy to find food that tastes straight out of NOLA. That’s why we’re so excited to welcome Creole Soul, a food truck turned brick-and-mortar eatery with everything from gumbo to beignets.
Creole Soul is located in an alley on Marine View Drive in Des Moines.
He spent some time as a professional basketball player in leagues across Italy, Turkey, and Australia after he graduated from college. About seven years ago, he relocated to the Seattle area to work as a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines. In between his trips jetting around the country, he managed to start his food truck Dat Creole Soul.

The food truck was so popular that a brick-and-mortar restaurant seemed inevitable -- and clearly, it was.
They're well-known for their massive Bloody Mary, but it's tough to top the Gator Water (pictured here).
Creole Soul’s food truck is still available for catering private events, and the restaurant is open Thursday – Saturday for dinner and Sunday for brunch. When was the last time you had classic New Orleans cuisine?
