Sometimes a road trip is about the destination… but sometimes, as the saying goes, it’s all about the journey. We’ve got some absolutely incredible scenic byways here in Washington, and while every last one is full of natural beauty, these seven should be experienced by every Washingtonian at least once.
We're unbelievably lucky to have the Palouse. And the byway, which covers seven different rural highways, shows off the best of Eastern's Washington's farm land.
The Cascade Loop has been described as a 440-mile love letter to Washington, and we happen to think it's quite accurate. The loop takes you the Stevens Pass Greenway, North Cascades Highway and the Whidbey Scenic Isle Way, with incredible scenery around every corner. You'll want to take several days to complete this one.

Chuckanut Drive is a curvy, 24-mile stretch that hugs the sandstone cliffs of the Chuckanut Mountains. Chuckanut Drive overlooks Samish Bay and offers plenty of beautiful view of the San Juan Islands along the way.

Mount Baker Highway is a 57 mile drive, but you'll want to allow for plenty of time to stop and take it all in. The route begins just west of Bellingham and winds up to Artist Point.
This drive outlines the entire Olympic Peninsula, winding through a national park and rain forests, not to mention all the ocean beaches. This 360 mile stretch is nothing short of amazing.
Chinook Scenic Byway travels through the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and Mount Rainier National Park. It takes you through some pretty diverse (and gorgeous) landscape, and you'll enjoy every single mile.
