As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Winter is no time to hibernate, especially when you live in Washington. In fact, that’s when some of our finest resorts and lodges are at their most beautiful. Don’t wait until spring to leave home – get out and explore, then curl up by the fire at one of these amazing places.
1. Salish Lodge and Spa, 6501 Railroad Ave., Snoqualmie
Snoqualmie Falls is gorgeous… and if you stay at the Salish Lodge, you can have a room that overlooks the river and waterfall. The rooms here have fireplaces and big jetted soaking tubs, but make sure you venture out long enough to enjoy a meal at The Attic or The Dining Room and treat yourself to a luxurious spa treatment.
Willows Lodge is the perfect place to relax after enjoying some wine tasting in Woodinville. Winter is a great time to go since it’s a little quieter and occasionally more affordable. This destination resort’s rooms all include a fireplace and soaking tub built for two, so it’s perfect for a romantic getaway. And the onsite Barking Frog Restaurant will give you a dining experience you’ll never forget.
3. Sun Mountain Lodge, 604 Patterson Lake Rd., Winthrop
Sun Mountain Lodge has a variety of winter activities like skiing, sleigh rides and snowshoeing, which will encourage you to explore the beautiful Methow Valley. But if you do want to stay inside, you can enjoy accommodations ranging from the Main Lodge to a lakeside cabin. There are several dining options here as well as an award-winning wine cellar with an extensive collection, so you won’t have to leave the property at all during your stay.
Suncadia’s property is enormous, and in the summer guests can expect to enjoy swimming, biking and golfing. But they also offer plenty of winter activities like cross-country skiing and holiday festivities the whole family will enjoy. After a day spent in the snow, relax in the Lodge Lobby with some cocoa or a cocktail with the other lucky visitors.
This beautiful destination happens to be in Leavenworth, Washington’s most magical winter wonderland. The onsite Alpine Spa is as amazing as it sounds, JJ Hills Fresh Grill has delicious food, and there’s a current Sleigh Ride Package promotion that includes overnight accommodations for two, a complimentary breakfast buffet, sleigh rides and hot cocoa in your room.
Lake Chelan is far more than a summer destination, and Campbell’s Resort has plenty to offer all winter. In addition to their events and promotions (like the Ugly Sweater Contest on December 17), the property features an onsite spa and the delicious Pub & Veranda Restaurant. The resort is currently offering a New Year’s Eve special with rates starting at $145.
Skamania Lodge has a spectacular location, tucked away in a beautiful forest on the outskirts of the small town of Stevenson. While you’ll probably want to save the outdoor activities for summer, there is still plenty going on here when it’s cold outside. Skamania Lodge hosts holiday activities, special dinners, and year-round tours like the Hood River Fruit Loop Tour. They’re also hosting a New Year’s Eve party with live music and a Roaring 20s theme.
