It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what we love about Virginia’s diverse hiking trails, but it has much to do with the state’s gorgeous and diverse landscape.
Did you realize, for instance, that there was a breathtaking boardwalk trail system that leads hikers to the ephemeral Lake Drummond? This trail, while it’s not particularly challenging, measures nearly 9 miles roundtrip. So if you’re looking for an adventure that will give you the perfect opportunity to explore southeastern Virginia, you’ll want to lace up your walking shoes and head for the Washington Ditch Boardwalk Trail.
The Great Dismal Swamp Natural Refuge is located at 3100 Desert Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434. Have you hiked or biked the Washington Ditch Boardwalk before? We’d love to hear about it! Curious to learn more about Lake Drummond and Great Dismal Swamp? Click here!
