Tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a tiny town often overlooked due to its remote location and modest size. Yet Sperryville is not only a hidden wonder, it’s a site full of historic charm, natural beauty, and all sorts of treasures waiting to be discovered. Take a look at why a visit to this town of under 400 absolutely belongs on your travel bucket list:
Just a stone's throw away from one of the Shenandoah National Park entrances awaits the quaint yet vibrant town of Sperryville, Virginia.
What can most accurately be described as a farm village town was established in the 1820s. Since then, the town has retained its sense of authenticity, charm, and natural beauty all while evolving into an exciting place to visit.
Each season is remarkable in Sperryville. Even in the heart of winter, snow-capped mountains and winding country roads inspire the most romantic cabin getaway. There are plenty of rental cabins in the area that will offer just that.
In the springtime, visitors will enjoy exploring the heart of Virginia's wine country. One such local winery, Sharp Rock Vineyard, offers gorgeous views and delicious local wines to sample.
During the summer, you'll encounter plenty of locals out on the gorgeous trails in Shenandoah. Photographed below is the breathtaking view from Mary's Rock, a 3.4-mile out and back trail.
If you're in the mood for something a little more casual, you can head next door and treat yourself to a brick-oven pizza from Rappahannock Pizza Kitchen.
So whether you're just passing through or decide to stay for awhile, you'll be glad you had the chance to encounter one of the loveliest small towns in Virginia.
