With a long stretch of summer days ahead, we’re fully prepared to take advantage of all that Virginia’s great outdoors have to offer. And that often means a healthy dose of very warm weather. Luckily, a trip to Virginia’s magnificent cavern system can offer the perfect tonic to Virginia’s infamous humidity. Chances are you’ve visited or at least heard of Luray caverns, but a trip during the summer offers a new world of appreciation. As soon as you step underground, you can enjoy the naturally cool temperatures of 54 degrees all while admiring these geological wonders.
Take a look:
Luray is an incredibly scenic corner of Virginia, yet its most baffling attraction is hidden underground.
No matter how hot it may feel above-ground, you'll experience a refreshing 54 degrees. And with humidity inside the cave, it feels more like 65 degrees. That's practically cool enough for a sweater!
Luray Caverns is open to visitors every day of the year, and tours begin at 9:00 AM. This special site is located at 101 Cave Hill Rd, Luray, VA 22835.
